Sleep

Mmmm. Sleep. I could use some of that right now. 4.5 hours isn't enough to keep one going to class, riding 3.5 hours, studying, and going to a UW Cycling meeting. Sleep is good.

Tonight I will get 10 hours of sleep. 10 hours of sleep is good. 4 hours of sleep is bad.

Kapesch?

Regardless of feeling mentally drained, I still managed to get my ride in--and thanks to a 16 oz cup of Espresso Bean organic coffee, my 60 min of tempo power wasn't sacrificed either. But I don't reccomend doing that very often. I can see myself getting sick quite easily with a training, school, and sleep plan similar to what I had today.

I'm working out my race schedule for the season...here's the possible races, followed by the most likely race priority. C means a training race, B means 3-day taper, and A means a peak event. The races in BOLD are ones I am for sure planning to do. Keep in mind that my C races will be an LT workout for me, and will NOT be a full on race. C races get me in peak conditiion without burning me out. There is no such thing as a C priority WORS race--they are all too hard of an effort. A RR or a crit, on the other hand, is a perfet C race.
  1. Feb. 24/25th.....Collegiate RR/crit at Depauw.................C
  2. March 4/5th.....Collegiate RR/Crit at OU/OSU...............C
  3. March 25/26th.....Collegiate RR/Crit at Marian...................C
  4. April 1/2nd.....Collegiate RR/crit at Purdue..........................C
  5. April 9th.....Great Dane RR #1, WCA #1..........................C
  6. April 23rd.....Great Dane RR #2, WCA #2........................C
  7. April 22/23rd.....Collegiate regionals at U of I.......................C
  8. April 29th.....Whitnall Park Crit, WCA #3..............................C
  9. April 30th.....Rock Cut Enduro (60 km) in Rockford, IL..B
  10. May 6th.....Baraboo RR WCA #4.........................................C
  11. May 7th.....WORS Iola......................................................B
  12. May 13/14.....Muskego Park/Noah's Ark Crit WCA..............C
  13. May 20th.....LeMuix Grand Prix WCA....................................C
  14. May 21st.....WORS Alpine Valley....................................B
  15. June 4th.....WORS Wausau 9 Mile.................................A
  16. June 10th.....Spring Prarie State RR champs............A
  17. June 18th.....WORS Kewaunee..................................A

After WORS Kewaunee, I take a full one week completely off the bike. Transition peroid!

So what races remaining should I do? The rest of my season is too far off, let's just focus on the first peak. I'm thinking one or two more WCA races in order to get enough points for the Cat 3 upgrade.

What, no Snake Alley?

Possibility. but most of the Brazen Dropouts team races all the WCA races, and I'd like to get the Cat 3 Upgrade asap. WCA is the easiest way to get the category points.

Jordan, while I know for sure you are a "madman", everyone has to start as a Cat 5. And you won't win every race. That's just how it goes. RR's are not mtb races.

Snake Alley gets you USCF upgrade points for the top 6. It's pretty early on in the season.

It's also 6 hrs from Green Bay. If I get a carpool, that would be a great event though, right during my peak part of the season. The course would suit me well, being a mountain biker. Sprint up snake alley, keep it motoring along and solo for the win. Piece o' cake.
