Wheel n Sprocket Crit

I got new tires today. I thought that would prevent me from getting a flat (again).

But the tires are sweet....baby blue Michelin Pro Race's....I highly reccomend them (not for the flats, though).

At the Wheel and Sprocket crit on Sunday, Fred and I took advantage of the small field numbers by driving the pace of the field high right from the gun. After Fred and I alternated attacks for several laps, and I got a wheel change for my flat rear tire (again), Fred got a solo gap off the front of the field.

After a few minutes, I bridged up to the break, with Casey McCulley and Kip Spaude of IS Corps joining us soon after. The field didn’t like that two teams with two riders each were up the road, so they tried to chase, but it never came back together. Fred and I worked well together with IS Corps to make the break stick and go for the win.

On the final lap, Fred attacked hard on the front, forcing IS Corps to chase. I sat on, and when everything came back together, Kip attacked and I followed. I closed the gap around the final corner, put in a solid sprint, and took the win. Fred, after having spent himself attacking, took 4th—but we were both stoked to get a win for the team.

Hope this head cold goes away soon. I don't get sick all year, then, of course, right during race season....(I'm jinxing myself again. I need to shut my mouth).

Heard that Iola included more climbing than usual...sounds painful!

I'll be on the dirt soon enough. Looking forward to it.

Any elite riders this past weekend?

heard wors was lacking some power in the elite feild.... thats what happens when they dont pay out enough... whos did you get a wheel change from ? lucky that person had some wheels sitting in the pit or you wouldnt have won...

Big shout out to Cole for being a good friend and letting me use his wheel in the pit.

That's what happens when you travel with UW Cycling. No wheels in the pit, no directions, no pump, no tools....but it's all worth it for the experience.

You only got a small glimpse of a typical race weekend on UW Cycling during Iowa City....

hopefully your cold goes away- that's the worst! I had that last year first race, (not as important as yours) but I just sucked down tea and vapor rubs the night before the race to do what I could to get cleared up. Way to work with the teams.
